Born and educated in South Africa, Brian then studied at the Hornsey School of Art in London, where he lived for ten years.
He returned to South Africa, joined an International Art and Antique Gallery, where he moved up the Corporate ladder, to become CEO.
At that time painting was a weekend hobby for him.
Immigrating to Southern California in 1978, he studied the techniques of the Old Masters and became immersed in the use of color and form by Cezanne, Van Gogh, Monet and Pissaro.
He also studied portraiture and considers the works of Velasquez and John Singer Sergeant to be of significant influence on him.
As a collector of Antique handwoven rugs, he has always been fascinated by the vibrance of color and color combinations created by the weavers, and began using these colorings in his artworks.
Art which impacts the viewer sufficient to create an emotional response by the use of color, form and motion, is what he attempts to achieve with his images.
He has developed his own distinctive style.
Brian was commisioned to create two works for the Tampa Bay Museum of Art for an evening soiree and they were sold instantly.
His portrait of Louis Armstrong, laser etched on granite, was recently acquired by the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport.
He was also commisioned to paint the St. Louis Cathedral, as a tribute to the City of New Orleans, after Hurricane Katrina.
A Fine Art Gallery owner describes Brian's "liquid Serenity" series as "Truly exciting vibrant, very fresh and beautifully executed!"
Most recently Brian has been contracted to create a collection for an International Art Gallery, who will be marketing a limited edition series to their exclusive clientele.
